~WEDNESDAY MEN’S BIBLE STUDY~
First let me state that the reason we meet early is so that men who may have to work can come early and spend some time in fellowship with others in the church. Paul tells us that the scriptures are profitable (2 Timothy 3:16, 17): for (1) doctrine, (2) reproof, (3) correction, (4) instruction in righteousness, and (5) to furnish unto all good works. These are not five insignificant things. They are all very important to the welfare of our souls. At any given Bible study, we can profit in one of these areas and many times in more than one. This alone is a good reason to attend Bible study; Bible study causes growth.
Currently we are studying the pursuit of holiness. This study goes deep into the reasons we put off change and desire to seek God in everything we do. Many men place things (work, TV, sports) in front of our love and worship for God (including myself). In 1 COR 6:12 Paul states, “Everything is permissible for me but I will not be mastered by anything”. Every Christian who is concerned about growing should attend Bible study. Sufficient spiritual growth is impossible without a proper diet of God's Word. There are too many Christian men who are not as mature as they should be because they do not spend enough time in the Word of God (Hebrews 5:12-14).
The fellowship aspect is also important; we have many men who have shared stories of weakness and strength that have inspired me in my walk personally. Iron sharpens iron and when we share and discuss each other’s passions, struggles and love for Christ, it makes us better disciples for the Lord. You can be sure as brothers that whatever is shared here stays here.
In closing, the Word of God makes a person strong in the faith. This is why the devil wants to keep people away from the Bible. He knows that faith leads to a pleasing relationship with God and he knows that the Word of God is the source of faith. Don't let the devil beat you. Equip yourself with the Word of God so that you can stand against his assaults. Attend every Bible class you can - these studies help us to distinguish truth from error. We would love to have you come Wednesday mornings at 7am; you will not regret it.
